SCAMMERS Are At It Again

SCAMMERS are at it again.  Several of our customers in the Maryland area have been getting hit with bogus calls from consumers looking to purchase 2200 sf (100 cartons) of Bruce Manchester Butterscotch.   Once they are confident that you have the material on hand, the consumer provides the retailer with payment information over the phone and then makes arrangements to pick up the material.  Unfortunately by the time you realize the payment information provided has been stolen, these offenders have already made off with the goods.   NOW MORE THAN EVER we need to be vigilant……Please exercise caution and beware of trusting credit card payments from unknown entities and/or delivering to empty lots.

Holden Elected Hardwood Federation Chairman of the Board

The Hardwood Federation is pleased to announce that Rick Holden, Chief Operating Officer of Derr Flooring Company in Willow Grove, PA has been elected President of the Hardwood Federation, the industry’s federal policy advocate in Washington, D.C.

“We are thrilled to work with Rick in his new role as President of the Federation Board,” said Executive Director Dana Lee Cole.  “Rick brings a wealth of experience to the board, both as a businessman with extensive knowledge of all aspects of the hardwood industry and as an advocate for the industry on Capitol Hill.  He understands the business and how federal laws and policies impact that business.”  Holden is also the Past-President of the National Wood Flooring Association.  Rick has previously served on Hardwood Federation boards as both a member and as the Vice President of the PAC Committee.

Holden represents the National Wood Flooring Association on the Hardwood Federation Board.  Representatives of Appalachian Hardwood Lumber Industries, Decorative Hardwood Association, the Hardwood Manufacturers Association, the Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen’s Association, the Lake States Lumber Association, the Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association, and the National Hardwood Lumber Association also sit on the Hardwood Federation Board.

The Hardwood Federation is the umbrella organization that serves as the voice in Washington, D.C. for the United States hardwood industry representing 27 national, regional, state, and local trade associations that represent hardwood businesses across the country.  The Federation monitors legislative issues that will impact our industry and lobbies Congress, the Administration and U.S. agencies and departments on behalf of U.S. hardwood businesses across the country.
