Derr Flooring Co is proud to still be family owned and operated. We have found that our most reliable vendor relationships mirror the strong family values that have served our family well for over 100 years and five generations. Smith Flooring is now in its third generation of family ownership. With deep roots in the Missouri forest products industry, their history dates back to the 1920’s when Jack Smith worked as a logger and tie hacker in southern Missouri. Smith continues in that tradition by still owning significant acreage of hardwood forests in Missouri as well as saw mills. Being vertically integrated throughout the harvesting and manufacturing process allows Smith to be widely recognized as a premium manufacturer in the strip oak flooring marketplace. In addition, Smith is a member of NOFMA. They are the governing body of the unfinished oak flooring industry and they make 2 inspections a year at Smith’s plant to verify that they are manufacturing products that meet the grading and milling specifications for our industry. Our mutual history dates back to the 1930’s, making Smith Flooring one of our oldest partners.
